Nokia Siemens Networks, Chunghwa Telecom Sign 3G Network Upgrade Deal

Nokia Siemens Networks announced on July 14 that it has inked a cooperation agreement with Taiwan's leading telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom. As per the agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks will help upgrade the transmission speeds and network coverage of Chunghwa Telecom's 3G network, Nikkei Electronics Asia reported. Value of the deal is estimated at 72.0 million Euros (US$114.0 million; US$1=0.63 Euro).

In addition, Chunghwa Telecom will test the I-HSPA (Internet High Speed Packet Access) solution innovated by Nokia Siemens Networks. It is projected that the I-HSPA solution will enable Chunghwa Telecom to deliver a data uplink speed of 2Mbps and downlink speed of 14Mbps, according to the same report.
